Skin Care Specialist
Sharyn Madison, MS, SCT
With dual certification in Education N-6th (Bachelors of Science—Magna Cum Laude) and Physical Education K-12, (Masters of Science) Sharyn taught school and coached women’s sports for 30 years. She also participated in several mission trips internationally doing work related tasks such as refurbishing a school in Colombia, South America, building a gym in Guadeloupe, painting a church in the Dominican Republic and short-term teaching of English in Thailand. Later in her career she focused on Early Childhood Education with several years at Manlius Pebble Hill School, then 14 years in the McGraw School District.
While still teaching, she began her next career in Wellness Center ownership, management and Skin Care Therapy. Invigorations began as an extension of Janet Hanna’s massage therapy business that outgrew the single room office where she started. Sharyn offered to help her find a larger place, not knowing it would become the business of integrated therapies that it has become. Within a few short years she realized she could not teach AND run the Center, therefore she took an early retirement from teaching so she could be 100% committed to Invigorations. Sharyn attended the Aesthetics School in Rochester to study the science and art of skin care therapy, and has since loved the masters classes she continues to take in New York City as well as cities across the United States.
She feels so blessed to be a part of Invigorations and a part of the Cortland community. She says, "We have a superb staff and without a doubt the best clients ever. To meet so many great people and be even just a small part of their lives has given me rewards far greater than I ever imagined."
As a Skin Care Therapist, Sharyn primarily does facials but she also does peels, microdermabrasion, body treatments, and waxing. A facial involves analysis of skin type and skin condition followed by a treatment customized for individual skin care needs. This can be for treatment of skin problems or concerns such as acne, rosacea, aging issues, hyperpigmentation, and/or sun damage. A facial can also be focused on relaxation using aromatherapy, moist heat, deep cleansing, exfoliation, masking, and massage. Do clients ever fall asleep? Yes, they do and that is a complement. She includes with each facial a face mapping analysis, recommendations for a home care routine and products or ingredients that would best address client concerns and needs.
